About Us

With 2,000,000 young readers in 10,000 schools, and a loyal subscriber base, First News has been an important part of the educational landscape in the UK for nearly 10 years.

First News is published by First News (UK) Ltd, a dynamic, independently financed publishing house established in January 2006. Among its aims, it aspires to raise the profile of children’s views and opinions in society. First News was founded by former editorial director of BBC Children’s Magazines, Nicky Cox MBE, with a steering role from investors Steve and Sarah Jane Thomson.

We are committed to promoting literacy among young people and fueling a passion for the world beyond the classroom, through our unique mix of entertainment, features and interactive content. Every week, news articles, campaigning features, fun facts, interviews, puzzles, polls and pictures fill our pages, but we’re not just in print. First News is also a fully interactive cross platform newspaper, with additional content, galleries, videos and animations available on smartphone and tablet.
